Intermountain Rural Electric Association is currently seeking a dynamic individual to fill our Attorney position in our Sedalia location.  With over 151,000 members, Intermountain Rural Electric Association is one of the largest member-owned electric utility cooperatives in the United States.

SALARY: Compensation Based On Experience

QUALIFICATIONS: The position requires a license to practice law and admission to the Colorado State Bar. Excellent research, writing, and communication skills are required. Responsible to the Board of Directors (Board) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) this position will provide general legal counsel regarding corporate governance, transactions, regulatory matters, right of way issues, contracts, compliance, risk management, relationships with outside counsel and other legal matters arising in connection with the business of the Association.

BASIC DUTIES: Advises the Board, CEO, and Association staff on legal matters relevant to their responsibilities and to the Association. Prepares opinions and memoranda regarding legal matters as requested by the Board or CEO. Reviews, negotiates, and drafts, or assists with the review, negotiating, and drafting of contracts, easements, licenses, and other legal documents. Reviews and revises contracts and other legal documents. Works with local units of government as required to comply with local legal requirements and to advance the Association’s interests in matters within the jurisdiction of local governmental entities. Monitors and supervises, as needed, outside counsel in connection with litigation and other matters referred to outside counsel. Drafts, revises, and reviews Association articles, bylaws, policies, and procedures as required. Works with the Chief Financial Officer to ensure appropriate business insurance coverage as needed to protect the Association, its directors, and employees. Fulfills other responsibilities as requested by the CEO or Board.
Responsible to the Distribution Operations Director.
