Position Summary:
Responsible for the engineering tasks related to the design, construction, and inspection of overhead and underground electric distribution facilities for new consumer, consumer upgrades and system improvement projects. Manages distribution engineering staff including but not limited to, performance appraisals, workload, and training.

Experience/Education:
Associate鈥檚 degree in electrical engineering or engineering technology and 10 or more years of practical equivalent experience desired.
路 Requires valid Colorado driver鈥檚 license with satisfactory driving record within Association standards.
路 Competent with position-specific software and applications.
路 Proficient with Microsoft Office: Excel, Word, Outlook.
路 Proficient with general office equipment.

Duties/Tasks:
路 Manages distribution engineering staff including but not limited to, performance appraisals, workload, and training. Carries out administrative functions associated with distribution engineering.
路 Reviews designs prepared by the Engineering Aides and designers for compliance with Association construction standards, procedures, NESC, NEC, and rates and regulations.
路 Ensures required plans and documents have been received by developers, builders, etc. prior to the assignment of work request to distribution designer or engineering aide.
路 Coordinates all field engineering activities related to new consumer applications, system improvements and subdivision development.
路 Maintains financial controls on projects.
路 Working knowledge of Association Procedures, Rules and Standards, Rates and Regulations, and National Electric Safety Code.
路 Inspects work completed by contractors for compliance with Association specifications and Standards and reviews contractor billing data for accuracy.
路 Ensures that easements and permitting requirements are identified at the time of engineering review and verifies that notification to customer is in Associations document management system along with the appropriate easement forms.
路 Ensures accurate and complete information is being reported in work management system for all projects submitted for engineering review.
路 Documents all inquiries, complaints, and other correspondence from consumers.
路 Takes action, where possible, to improve efficiency and productivity in performing job duties and tasks.
路 Responds to customer inquiries during the absence of the distribution designer or engineering aide. Performs engineering and inspections as needed at the direction of the Distribution Engineering Manager or Engineering Director.
路 Provides information to design personnel relative to design practices and material specifications.
路 Assists in preparation of construction contracts and associated contract costs.
路 Prepares progress reports on design and construction work in progress.
路 Plans distribution system layouts for both new and relocated systems.
路 Coordinates installation of distribution extensions and relocated facilities and answers questions from construction personnel regarding project scope.
路 Ensures as-builts are completed within a timely manner meeting contract requirements.
路 Required to return to work in connection with callouts and emergency situations when directed to do so by supervisor.
